..Well hello 2017.
I've sat here and rewrote this little blurb about 7x over. Just because I can't decide what exactly I wanna say here. First on my mind: I need to blog more this year. It's something I promised myself I would work on, because I feel it's important. I just didn't make the time I needed for it last year. This year I will, and each post will be intentional, not just writing/posting/sharing for the heck of it. Hence, my sharing this gem's (above) bridal session from December. I'm so proud of her for allowing me to see her natural beauty and to capture it (that word. "capture", is so overused, but please really think about what that means here). I just keep thinking about her kids, grand kids, and great grand's who will look back at these images in awe of how timelessly beautiful she is. I've had a lot happen within the past 24ish months that's granted me a lot of perspective, life-lessons, and appreciation. More than any other year so far, honestly. And it's been weighing on me to speak on it. I also feel like I need to say this: I'll be focusing on weddings this year. There, I said it. The business/entrepreneurial side of me knows that I don't HAVE to announce that, and that it should become clear on it's own. But the artist side of me feels the need to explain. A medical intern (according to Grey's) must spend time in each specialty, before they can decide which will be the one they pursue. I may not be saving lives over here, but I do feel like a photographer must go through the same journey. I've spent several years "dabbling" in almost every area of photography. Last year, my passion for couples and weddings really revealed itself to me. So, that's what I'm gonna pursue. I'll still be there for those who wish to have me document the special moments in their lives. Of course. And I'm being transparent here. But the pricing will be a bit different, and my availability will be limited. Just so that each client I choose to work with will receive 100% of me. Not just a portion. As an artist, and as an entrepreneur, I can't overextend myself. That's not good for anyone. ...I already feel a lot better having said that out loud. I really just needed my families and couples to understand this shift in focus, with hopes they'll support me. Just like they have from the beginning. That's all I have to share at the moment. Really, all that was important. If you took the time to read this and hear me out, thank you. I appreciate you.
